Tromp Concours
Percussion competition
Nov 16 2014
Asko|Schönberg will accompany the percussionists who reach the final round of the Tromp Competition.
Louis Andriessen has added lustre to his 75th birthday with the creation of Tapdance, a work partly composed for this particular occasion. Inspired by the big band and tap dance culture of the 1920s, this concerto is an exhilarating and incendiary spectacle that will test the finalists’ mettle and captivate the listeners.
While the results of the competition are being decided Asko|Schönberg will perform Hoketus and Alexandre Esperet, winner Tromp 2012, performs the marimba solo Tromp Miniature by Bryce Dessner.
