Openingsconcert Gaudeamus Muziekweek
Special anniversary edition
Sep 9 2020
Gaudeamus celebrates its 75th anniversary. Gaudeamus Muziekweek is always focused on the future, but for this festive occasion they will make an exception and look back at the music from past editions. Of course, new works will be presented in the concert programme as well.
For 75 years, Gaudeamus has allowed curious music lovers to meet the (composed) music of the future. Asko|Schönberg has been closely related to Gaudeamus since its foundation and will dive into its archives to perform works by composers that are also closely tied to the festival.
The musicians will be spread throughout the corners of the Main Hall to cruise through 75 years of contemporary music. Similar to a live jukebox, they are performing an idiosyncratic medley of works by (predominantly) Dutch composers. In addition, director Henk Heuvelmans will share his view on his 40 years at Gaudeamus.
