Mahler & Beyond
Sparkling programme with Mahler as a starting point
Sep 12 2019
Asko|Schönberg opens the Thursday evening series with a sparkling, festive programme brimming with surprises. Mahler’s songs are the starting point.
Our top violinist Joseph Puglia (b. 1984), who curated the programme, will be taking you on a musical journey through time of leading composers from around 1900 up to the present day, examining how they relate both to one another and to the Zeitgeist, and exploring new musical ground at each stage. This is the follow-up programme to Bach & Beyond, with which Asko|Schönberg and Puglia opened the season in September 2017. Spurred on by that evening’s success and the overwhelming public reaction, Puglia has now designed this new instalment around the master Mahler.
