Horseless Carriage
World première Mayke Nas at the Zaterdagmatinee
Apr 6 2019
Composer laureate Mayke Nas writes slightly eccentric music that always contains an ironic twist. The ZaterdagMatinee concert includes an ode to Henry Ford, who not only invented the ‘Everyman’s car’, but also the endlessly repetitive movement of the assembly line.
It is minimal music but of a neo variety. The Mahler Chamber Orchestra fills the remainder of this afternoon programme with works by Stravinsky, Beethoven and de Falla.
