CONNECT
Dialogue between audience, performers and makers
Nov 5 2016
Together with three other European new music ensembles Asko|Schönberg has been invited to participate in the CONNECT project. Initiated by the Art Mentor Foundation Lucerne, the project is being launched out of a desire to connect new audiences to the sound and expression of today’s music.
The dialogue between audience, performers and makers is at the heart of the project, which aims to create a newly developed relationship between them. Performances can take place in any social context, from concert hall to festival terrain. For this first edition works have been commissioned from the young, up-and-coming composers Christian Mason and Huang Ruo. Each composer draws the audience into a dialogue with the Asko|Schönberg musicians in his own unique fashion. The audience is not a passive listener; rather, it contributes to the creation of the auditory and visual composition. The dividing lines between audience and performers vanish in an organic process, as everyone participates in a shared experience.
An initiative generously supported by ART MENTOR FOUNDATION LUCERNE in collaboration with London Sinfonietta, Ensemble Modern, sko|Schönberg and Remix Ensemble Casa da Música.
