Chemins
Sep 30 2012
Berio originally created his Sequenzas as pure solo works. However, he later composed new music around a number of these solos. Asko|Schönberg presents two of these solo works together with their counterparts, which he namedChemins. Music that once existed as a fully independent entity now proves to be an integral part of this new context. Berio composed the Chemins as natural extensions of the solo works. The ensemble lines have their source in theSequenzas, in this case the works for viola and oboe. What was once a soliloquy abounding in pioneering ideas and perspectives has now become a brilliant exchange of thoughts and ideas – a musical brainstorm.
