Caliban
Brandnew opera based on Sheakespeare character
25 — 30 Mar 2017
We followed the tale of Caliban, a character from William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. If any figure in the history of literature deserves his own opera, the sensitive monster Caliban certainly does.
In The Tempest he performs an all-encompassing role: he fights against oppression as a slave, he is tortured, liberated, finds his God, plots vengeance and is once again captured and humiliated. This is opera material in its purest essence.
